Of Birds and Buffalo: Catalina Island

I have been on a boat fishing last 3 days at Santa Catalina Island off the coast of Los Angeles. We anchor in Cat Harbor at night. The island is populated but also has much open space.
I have been enjoying watching an old buffalo, juvenile eagles, and an old blue heron flying up to the boat.
Fishing has been great with both pole and camera. Even the dogs like it and posed.

Nice variety of cool images. Wow, I have not been to Catalina Island since I was young child. Long before I was doing photography.

Thanks JD. It was memorable indeed. Fishing OK but photo fun better. The weather was foggy and cold, near rain. When it warms up and dries out we will return. It is a regular haunt for us.

Still a great place to hang your hat for a few days. We love hanging out in Cat Harbor fishing for leopard sharks at night. Last night I hooked into a 6 footer! Shredded me. LOL

Thanks Mike. Those dolphins were about 1/3-1/2 mile away. I saw the pod and put the Z9 on 60fps and hit the shutter button and boom! My mouth dropped when I reviewed the pictures because I didn't see it in the viewfinder it happened so fast.
