QUESTION ABOUT A NIKON P900

My wife has a Nikon P 900 and she tells me that it's zoom is 24 to 2000.
Can someone tell me just what that figures out to be in mm?

I also own a P900. The zoom is remarkable.

The P900 is referred to as a "super-zoom" (I have one, also). I think the effective focal range, based on 35mm frame size is 24mm to 2000mm. That means everything from a mild wide-angle to a jaw-dropping telephoto. I have some samples (which I'll have to look for when I'm not occupied as I am now) that I took from the deck of a cruise ship off the coast of Costa Maya, Mexico. I noticed what I took to be a semi-capsized boat along the coast, so I took one photo at the widest setting, another at mid-range (to fill the frame), and one full closeup.

Now, THAT's a ZOOM!

Yup, it's in sad shape.

You can read the lettering on the boat

Just look at the end of the lens for ACTUAL numbers. The "24-2000mm" rating is an "equivalent" focal length rating indicating what lens you would need on a full frame body to get the same image view as the P900 goves you because of its very small sensor. It is often called a "super crop sensor" camera.
Your CROP FACTOR is 5.6.

I use my P900 more often than any of my other cameras (Sony, Canon, Nikon)

Besides taking fairly good pictures (and a few great ones) it fits my current needs.

At 75 years old, I no longer have to carry extra lenses.

We used the P950 for birding. It also has raw capabilities. Great camera for that except not good on low light and only 16MP. Hope they come out with a 24MP soon.

I bought a used one on eBay for $127. Yes, it does work.

As strictly an amateur I find the P900 a very useful camera. For long Zoom I find it helpful to lean my head on a tree or telephone or something like that.

It does have GPS and if I am outside it is great at tracking location. It has WiFi for some purposes but not for location!

I do use the "scenes" a lot, but auto is pretty good.

I have 2 Sony camera, 2 Canons and the Nikon P900 and P1000. I use the P900 more than any of the others. I love that thing!

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I had forgotten that I had a P900. I'll have to take it out and do some shooting.
