How to stop auto-align when pasting in Photoshop

Using Photo-shop I had edited certain areas of my picture. (A close-up of a flower).
I saved the resulting picture by Exporting to a different area on my hard drive.
I subsequently compared the original picture to the exported copy, and realised that I had overdone the editing on one petal. So I tried to selectively copy that petal from the original and paste it on to the Exported copy. WWhen I use the MOVE tool to align that pasted petal I want to be able to move the petal precisely - not auto-align by 24 pixels since that overshoots the final position.
Can some Photoshop expert help (Since googling did not get me to the right advice).

I use an old version of photoshop where manual operations are easy. I would:
1. Open both JPG pictures so I could see part of new one stick out under original.
2. Rectangular select the petal wanted with a little extra background.
3. Drag and drop selected rectangle onto new photo sticking out from underneath. (Should create a new layer.)
4. Select new photo so on top. Move layered rectangle to approximate desired position.
5. Reduce Opacity of overlay rectangle so you can see petal underneath at same time.
6. Magnify work area so you can visually overlay second image.
7. Check result by setting overlay to 100%, click overlay off/on, object should not move.
8. Erase undesired edges of overlay rectangle.
9 Merge down top layer petal.
This should be really easy if you did not resize, straighten, etc the updated picture.

Do you have "Snap" activated in the View menu?

View > Snap to> None

Also,

Edit>Preferences>Tools>Snap Vector Tools and Transforms to Pixel Grid (un-check.)

Turn snap off or use the arrow keys or for minor movements use alt+arrow key

It's been a while but I recall holding down another control key (Alt, Ctrl, ??) as you do the movement and the auto turns off for that movement.

Another approach is to use Edit/Paste Special/Paste in Place. This puts the old petal image in the exact spot where it came from, no need to manually align. Unless you moved the new copy.
