Saw these, the season is just starting.
Brodiaea (or brodeia) is also used as a common name to refer to three genera, Brodiaea, Dichelostemma, and Triteleia. The latter two genera were once included as part of the genus Brodiaea. That is why they look similar.

Beautiful and informative. I lived in NorCal for 30 years and felt proud of myself for recognizing poppies and sunflowers… wild flowers just weren’t on my short list. Now I’m looking for something to photograph that can’t outrun me and I have to find the slower wildflowers. Even cactus blossoms seem to get away… by the time I see them in bloom they are almost through their blossoming season. Thanks for the taxonomy lesson!

I spent a lot of time trying to get these guys right. I think that I did, but I am not sure. There are so many wildflowers here.

You have a bunch of cacti as well as wildflowers there, but the season is not that long. You have to be fast. Here, you have a little time. That makes a big difference.
