It once was mentioned out here that a certain conservative group has been harassing them.
Explosives, darts, sticks, stones, even underwater speakers.
They were complaining that orcas were stealing "our" fish, and watching the trawlers.
so- we need to do something!

People do not grasp just how deadly these critters are. If this continues then actions must be taken to 'correct' this behavior. Most humans regard them as cute or some such thing, They are nothing like that. They can be extremely vicious. Great White sharks move in fear of killer whales. One killer whale can clear out an entire area of great white sharks by ramming the great white thus disabling it and then keeps it upside down under water until it slowly drowns unable to move oxygen over it's gills. In the meantime, as that shark cries out dying, other Great whites hear the message and in fright leave the area to new hunting grounds.
The only thing that killer whales fear are steal hulled Navy vessels. The US Coast Guard have hunted killer whales in tandem and the killer whales know they are no match for these human hunters. I have seen this off the coast of California. But against a wooden ship they are nasty killers. There is nothing 'cute' about killer whales, they are a nasty piece of work.
