Milford Sound, inlet of the Tasman Sea, southwestern South Island, New Zealand. The sound is a fjord, created when the sea flooded a glacial valley. About 2 miles (3 km) wide, it extends inland for 12 miles .Milford Sound is a unique and truly magical, especially when it rains. In fact, Milford is one of the wettest places in earth with an average of 182 rainfall days per year. Once the rain comes, the mountains are covered in hundreds of temporary waterfalls spilling down from the mists. Ice cold raging rivers flow... Gorgeous landscapes...

been there done that.even did the LONG Milford walk, over 4/5 days///..my toenails fell off later. A heavenly place on this earth
