It was a great morning for a walk through the park with the camera and its macro lens and DIY flash diffuser in hand. The little wildflowers are starting to show with their insect visitors. These are a sampling of what caught my eye as I walked the path.

All very nice! I'm especially fond of the spiderwort flowers.

I agree with NMGal... they're all nice, but the first one is full of surprises. The bug that kind of looks like a bee but may not be a bee and it's sitting on bee balm, if I'm right about the plant. Underneath I spy another critter who 'photobalmed' you. The size of the ant is what makes me think the other bug isn't a bee?

Thanks, UTMike. All my sessions are handheld with the exception of those that are focused stacked. I set the camera shutter speed at 1/250 second and the flash will freeze any movement of me or the subject in a slight breeze.

Thanks, NMGal. The colors are starting to show now and the little critters are clamoring around them.

Thanks, Jack. Many folks think of all of these as weeds whereas others may enjoy their beauty.

Nightman3D, Thanks for stopping by and this is another little wildflower with a cluster of buds that has attracted the same insect which provides a better view of them. They are not a bee or a hoverfly. I can't tell if they have a proboscis which would indicate a member of the true bug family so my guess is that they are a type of beetle.
