The announcement includes the following:

I clicked on the "Learn more" link and found nothing that mentions how it works seamlessly with PhotoLab. Has anything changed in that area? As far as I am concerned, if one has to export an image to to an app in a format that differs from the Raw file and sidecar structure, or gets a result that is not compatible with that structure, then it is not seamless.
