ADs by Google showing up at the top of the page

For the past two days I have been getting a NEW section in light grey color after the Ugly Hedgehog- Photography Forum opening logo. If I click the close box it asks me for a selection of 4 boxes to click on. It then says thanks for selecting a box but still stays on the screen. HOW is Google taking over our forum?? JUST asking!

Have you recently turned off your ad-blocker?
Ugly Hedgehog has always contained Google ads, with as many as 5 separate ads spaced throughout a single page, ever since I joined in 2019. I assume that running Google ads provides income for the site, which allows the site to remain free for the rest of us. It does mean that Google - as usual - is spying on us and recording our personal information and our web-browsing history, in order to show us "relevant" ad content.
FYI - if you use an ad-blocker to prevent the ads from showing, UHH will block your avatar from displaying, once you've blocked ads for 10 days in a row.
