This is a popular subject for humor, and why not?
While being put under for my colonoscopy I asked the doctor what was the difference between a colonoscopy camera and an andioscopy camera.he told me it depends if I have a ppo or an hmo.i was hoping he would have a better sense of direction than a sence of humor cause he was going to need it.
I had my last colonoscopy last fall. (at 79+ I've aged out)
As a general rule the prep procedure is the worst part, but this colonoscopy was memorable for other reasons. The anesthesia didn't put entirely out like it was supposed to. I couldn't move or say anything, but I felt the entire colonoscopy. It was very uncomfortable, and I'm glad I won't have to be repeating it!

Had my triannual in February, and like you, the prep is the worst part. I was out completely and came to just as I got back to my room. A few cycles back, the doc found some benign polyps, so he put me on a triannual schedule until this year, now I'm back on a five year schedule. Next one due at age 81.
There is a virtual colonoscopy available, but my doctor doesn't do them. He reasons that he would have to do a regular procedure in case the virtual found something. Why do two tests?
PS - He still hasn't bought me dinner!!!
Yo don't need dinner.as long as you can pass gas , they will let you go home.

Yes you will- doctors lie.
Timely subject - I just got back from a colonoscopy today. I had one five years ago and they found a few small polyps. This time no polyps. The prep wasn't as bad as the last one. The last one there was only one prep and I couldn't quite drink all the water I was supposed to because I thought I might throw up. This time it was split in two, the evening before and the morning of the procedure, and there wasn't as much water to drink. I had quadruple bypass surgery last year, and compared to that, the colonoscopy was nothing. The anesthesia was propofol, and the odd thing with that is that when you wake up you feel like no time has passed. The first time I thought they hadn't done it yet.
That was Michael Jackson's milk.it just puts you out but it never gets you to any rem sleep that is why you don't feel rested.
I went to a different doctor last time, and his prep was excellent, not nearly as bad as the previous prep. The procedure was much better, too.

A few years ago my Dr. combined my colonoscopy with an Upper GI endoscopy. I told him to do the Upper GI first, or else make sure he washed the camera real good.

Like the common joke about rectal vs oral thermometers.
During my colonoscopy a few months ago, the nurse was a woman in my ukulele group. She now knows me better than most people.

It's in the taste.
Now that was a tasteless comment. 😂
My first one was decades ago. They gave my wife a list of things for me.
I drank the 8ox bottle. THEN I was told 2oz was the dose!
Like the man says" "Works in two hours".
It did. I spent the next two hours either IN the bathroom, or aiming at it.
I was squeaky clean after that! Late afternoon appointment comes ....
This was when they used air to inflate you.
I spent the next day practicing for my old(er) age.
Dam kids did NOT believe all that came from the airport!

A few years back, I had a colonoscopy where air was used. Unfortunately, all the air wasn't evacuated at the end of the procedure, and I had cramps so bad, I had to return to the hospital; didn't know what was wrong. I was put in bed while the air slooooowly escaped. Took around four hours in total.
