Singer Demi Lovato says we should not refer to extraterrestrials (people living in other parts of the universe) as aliens. It's a derogatory term, and we should use something else. I don't think she's come up with that word yet - maybe just "extraterrestrials." I think that would be offensive, too. It's categorizing them in relation to the earth. Now we know why aliens who come to earth always want to kill us.

I'd suggest we tell Demi Lovato to flake off.

I read somewhere another reason "extraterrestrials" haven't made it to earth (if you don't believe they have) is that any "intelligent" creature that has advanced to the point where they possibly could travel that far has probably destroyed themselves or their own planet. Not a very uplifting thought, but it makes sense in a way.
In dealing with the concept of intelligent species outside of our solar system one has to first understand is that no matter what one chooses to believe the reality is that in actuality we are making those conceptualizations on the basis of a sample size of one. Like with our conversations about other animals on our planet we tend to anthropomorphize and end up projecting our own biases into the equation. We know that our species has a sad propensity toward aggression and violence toward others that are different or has something that we want. We assume that this would also be the case with extraterrestrials but there is no basis for assuming that this is indeed the case. There is also no basis for assuming that this isn't the case. Perhaps in the future we will have a sample size greater than one but even then our conclusions are likely to be biased and incorrect until the sample size is much larger.

Whatever has happened to the great writing of those days? Everything now is either right or left. Nothing intellectually subtle. Better to be a bit MAD I think.

Twilight Zone
consider that herbivores follow the seasons.
Carnivores follow them.
Consider how the Northern Europeans treated the Native Anericans
And how the Cayholics treated South America and their own Jews.
Do you really think "they" came all the way here to share anything more than their appetites?
Food, farming, natural resources- including air and water, maybe just an outpost.
We are just a beacon for everyone to notice as soon as our signals get there.

But they did eat well on the trip back
I have a new word to describe Demi Lovato, stupid.
Any aliens probably have a quick look around and leave again, knowing that it can't be that long before current earth residents kill themselves off, saving the new residents considerable effort.
It's hard to come up with ANY example of a meeting of two civilization in which the more primitively armed one did well.

The reason "extraterrestrials" visit our planet (IMHO they have visited our plant MANY times) and don't stay or make themselves known is that one look (scan) and it's - Nope, these intelligent life creatures are too dangerous. Like swimming in a pond full of alligators.
I thought they visited, didn’t find intelligent life, and left.
