I do not see a problem, Paul! What about the beaks bothers you?

On the Computer screen I am not seeing sharpness and they appear soft. Tomorrow I am going to put my D7200 onto the same lens just as a matter of comparison!

Beautiful images, I am not that much of a stickler for total and complete sharpness, but I see what you are saying about the beaks. Might be not enough contrast in the background...but what do I know. Are you focused on the beak or the eye? What camera do you have? I have a NikonZ and find that Wide Area L focus area helps to get more of the subject in focus in some instances.

I took these with A D500 on a Sigma 150-600C

To my eye it looks like focus on the eye is very good -- which is usually a main goal. I can't seem to access any meta data from your downloads -- is it possible you have a wide open aperture which means very shallow depth of field?

I think the eye focus is great on these shots

To me they are spot on - maybe more contrast would help - but to me they are great

I don't really see a problem with the beaks. Aiming for the eye (side view) usually keeps the beak relatively in focus when the eye is in focus. Looks like you were pretty close. I like the set.
