Citadel of Saladin:
The Citadel was begun by the Kurdish Ruler Saladin between 1176 and 1183 AD in order to protect Cairo from potential Crusader attacks and to provide a secure center of government for his new regime. The effectiveness of the Citadel's location is demonstrated by the fact that it remained the heart of the Egyptian government until the 19th century The Mosque of Muhammad Ali is located inside the Citadel of Saladin.
'It was built by Muhammad Ali Pasha in 1848 AD.
This Tourist's Opinion:
*The Exterior of the Mosque -- Showing its age & frankly in need of some TLC
*The Interior of the Mosque -- A knock your socks off moment -- A glowing jewel box of color and intricate design

We were there in Dec 2022. Your first three photos are excellent and well taken. The rest are excellent also, but seem to have a heavy blue cast compared with what I shot while there.
