In this post, you will see some stiffly posed photos ... my fault ... and some men. Notice in many of their pictures, the twinkle in their eyes. (Or maybe it's just my imagination because we had so much fun spending time with them.)
I guess you could say that this woman does not have a merry twinkle in her eyes, as I described n my little introduction.
But these women do. That's a piece of some sort of sugar cane in her mouth, not a cigarette. To my taste it was unbearably sweet. I didn't see any growing on the land on which they were squatting, so I assume she traded for it in the market.
Closer. I'm not posting very many, but I always take lots of close ups.
Payment. Two Birr per picture. Always done with good humor.
This young man was showing me how he can squirt water from between a small gap in his teeth. Amazing! Then I showed him how I can raise either of my eyebrows independently of each other. Together we would make a great act for Ethiopia's Got Talent
This guy was telling jokes in the very little English he knew. I would say that that's one of the best ways to learn a new language.
The Hamer's like to use henna and oil in their hair, but I would say that this guy went a little too far.
About an hour later they began to dance. No music. No drums. Lots of singing and ululating.
The Massai men are known for dancing this way ... the very high, stiff kneed jumping. I wounder if the Hamer people got it from them.
Amazing pictures. I bet they don't have many cavities or much cancer. How long a walk is it to the nearest Walmart? 😂

Hi Jerry.
Nearest Walmart?? Just down the block about 2000 miles, across the street from Costco.
