Amazon has a sale on digital photo frames, but the prices are still higher than for comparable Kindle Fires. They don't do anything! All they do is display images from an SD card. I don't understand why they're so expensive. I bought one about a dozen years ago, and it stopped working. Then I bought another one, but I stopped using it. I can see using one at a group gathering, but not to just have it running somewhere in the house.

They are not cheap Jerry, I totally agree with you. I have three of these, and two are on 24/7. I like them a lot, but can't say they are cheap.

I'm usually home alone, so a frame wouldn't be of much interest to me. If I can find it, maybe I'll turn it on for a few days.

Jerry, for whom could it better serve than you?
We've been fortunate in traveling. We've visited several countries, also traveled some here in the US. I always had my camera tethered to my hand. So I have many many discs of wonderful images, and then end up in the digital picture frames. And for that reason, I always have one of them on constantly. Every time I walk past it, it reminds me of that visit, or that specific image. So who better deserves to see it than you, me, us?

So you have to have all the pictures in the frame of the same orientation? Otherwise it can't display full screen for some of the pictures. I guess they charge for the frame.
Jerry since you're good at wood working perhaps you can make the nice wooden frame for a 4K TV? Many of the TV has built in slide show function.

Google Aura Frame. Doesn't use memory cards but downloads photos and 30-sec video(no audio) from your phone or comp. It has activation schedule and sequencing options among others.

We have three digital frames and 6 memory cards to swap around. My wife turns them on in the kitchen every day and really enjoys the random memories.

My daughter gave me one that’s connected to the internet.
We can email me photos onto it, and/or I can load them while I’m away.
I’ve scheduled it to run daily so I can enjoy what’s on it.

I also gave up on digital photo frames. Until my daughter gave me one of these. Fun to get pics from our grandkids in university or anywhere in the world.

I have had a small one (10") for years, but wanted a larger one... so I recently bought a 32" tv, just for that purpose.

Chelsea and Tony Northrup on their YouTube channel awhile ago did a review of several digital frames and recommended Aura frame.
I don’t have one but recommended it to a friend who was looking for one, and they are very happy with it.

I've always thought it would probably be cheaper to buy an inexpensive PC and use the screensaver to display your photos. You only have to show the monitor so you could hide an inexpensive computer somewhere else. You might even be able to buy a used one.
And then you have a spare computer around the house when one of your other computers quits.
Took a quick look and there were some digital frames for around $70. They were 10" screens.
A refurbished computer was available on Amazon for around $126, no monitor, but can connect 2 of them.
Saw a 24" monitor for $80.
On the whole, the computer is more expensive but you get a large screen.
And then you have a spare computer around the house when one of your other computers quits.

Some digital 'picture frames' connect by WiFi to your home network, and anyone you have given the code to can upload images to it like your kids, other relatives. So not just you, but your family can share photos with you. My sister gave one of these to our mom - and she loves getting new photos to look at.

Aura frames also let others (designated family, etc.) add pictures to your frame remotely so you can get the latest and greatest grand kid pictures as well.
