I'm simultaneously intrigued and annoyed and a question for the UHH smartphone crowd

My iPhone selects photos and makes short video "memories" for me. It combines music, video clips, and Ken Burns effect on stills into short video clips. The quality was a pleasant surprise to me. Those are my photos?!!? I like that!
Ok, it's not perfect but it's surprisingly good.

Why am I annoyed? My phone has better "vision" than me. Ok, I can to do this but it would take me hours for each one. Apparently my phone has more free time than me. LOL.

My question: Is there any way to download those videos and edit them for sharing with friends ?

From Apple Support -

Play a memory
1. Open Photos, then tap For You.
2. Swipe left below Memories, or tap See All to browse through your memories.
3. Tap a memory to play it. As you watch, you can do any of the following:
◦ Pause: Touch and hold the screen, or tap the screen, then tap the Pause button at the bottom of the screen.
◦ Go backward or forward: Swipe left or right on the screen, or tap the screen, then slide the frames at the bottom of the screen.
◦ Restart a video: Tap the left side of the screen while the video plays.

Create a memory
You can create your own memory from an event, a specific day in your library, or an album.
1. Tap Library, tap Days or Months, then tap the More button. Or, tap Albums, open an album, then tap the More button.
2. Tap Play Memory Video.

Share a memory
1. Tap For You, then play the memory you want to share.
2. While the memory plays, tap the screen, tap the Share button, then choose how you want to share.

Share photos from a memory
You can share multiple or individual photos from a memory.
1. Tap a memory to play it.
2. While the memory plays, tap the screen, then tap the Browse button.
3. Tap the More button, tap Select, then tap the photos you want to share.
4. Tap the Share button, then choose how you want to share.

Add a memory to Favorites
Tap For You, then tap the Favorite button in the top-right corner of the memory. Or, while a memory is playing, tap the screen, tap the More button, then tap Add To Favorites.
To view your favorite memories, tap For You, tap See All next to Memories, then tap Favorites.

With AI, pretty soon you won't have to take photos yourself. Your phone will make friends with your friend's phones, and they'll go out together and have a good time. All you need to do is stay home and watch the videos they took.

I'm not an Apple man; it's another world I'm not very familiar with. (Whoops. Winston Churchill once said, " A preposition is a bad word to end a sentence with." LOL) From my Photo Folder on my Android phone I can send picture via email to myself then on to others. BTW I've done the same with my daughter's iPhone.

On a completely unrelated side note: Churchill actually said the opposite. When chided for ending a sentence with a preposition, he said something along the lines of "This is the sort of pedantry up with which I will not put!"

As a former English teach, I can assure you that it's perfectly okay to end a sentence with a preposition ... if you must.

I am bipolar. I use both Windows and Mac machines (right now I'm on Win10). I have an iPhone, with which I take photos.

My phone occasionally presents me with memories. I delete them. I have my own memories. True, I am aging, but I don't need help with my memories. Yet.

I have Apple everything because my computers and iPhone play so well together, as far as moving a photo or video to one of my computers you simply select the photo on your phone and use AirDrop to wirelessly transfer the file to your computer. I also receive phone calls and text messages on all my computers. Makes life easier.

<MyOpinion>

It is true that my iPhone and Mac play well together. I can't say the same for my Win10 laptop and my MacBook. I can use iCloud for Windows to move photos but it's cumbersome. The MacBook will see the Win10 computer with Finder, but I haven't been able to see the MacBook with Explorer. There's a lot of sneakernet usage.

Apple holds tight control of its environment. Windows not so much. For people who like to get into the weeds on their computer, Apple sucks and Windows rules. For people who want to do things using only someone else's software, Apple rules and Windows sucks.

You pays your money and takes your choice. (Or vice versa).

I run Parallels at work, I can see the Mac hard drive when booted into Windows. So there is a way to do that.

Yes and no. Apple doesn't burden the average user with learning code or having to use the command line. If you are an advance user, and you want to get into the development, then you can download Xcode and have at it. Also if you comfortable with Unix, then you can write scripts and execute them, also you can use C to compile executable programs.

I think Galas are the best but they don't take very good pictures.
