Male housefinch with a sunflower seed making his getaway just before several other birds landed on the feeder.
Each feeder had a waiting line and at intervals one mob of birds would replace another mob. When those that got some seeds had finished eating them they would join the line to keep the endless frenzy going.
It was mostly finches and sparrows but also doves on the ground gleaning the spill from the messy eaters. An occasional Band Tailed Pigeon would show up and take over a feeder or the best spot under one for a time.
Canon R7, 100-500L @ 500, 1/2500 @ f/8, ISO-1600
hand held at about 40' under cloudy bright conditions
Don’t you just love to watch the action?

Great action shot. Looks painterly.

Sort of like a small continuous riot during breeding season until the fledglings are on their own.

The result of the cloudy bright light and the settings for BIF. Getting rid of the noise, sharpening etc, then recovery of as much detail and color as possible left me with this look.

It is sort of like the images of some of the great illustrators in the magazines in the past.
Have to love the feeders!

At the rate those sunflowers are growing I will need to move the feeder so I can get photos of birds on it soon.
