I went to Lowe's this morning for plywood, insulation, and a few other things.

Never get behind me at a checkout. I'm very fast, but the people in front of me are always very slow.

I had to use the Lowe's register in lumber. There were two construction guys ahead of me. Their order was checked out, but the guy left his wallet in the truck. It must have been parked several miles away because it took quite a while for him to return. Then he had to decide on how to pay, cash or CC. When that was done, he had to access his phone to get something to show the cashier - pro discount, I think. Eventually (six minutes later) they left.

My eight items were checked out in under thirty seconds. My car was started just as they were starting to put their stuff into the truck. I'd hate to have these slow-motion guys doing a job for me. This seems to be standard operating procedure for me. If I'm in a smaller store, like Stewart's, the guy in front of me will have to pick out an assortment of lottery tickets. Then he'll have to get cigarettes. Then there will be a problem with his credit card.

Maybe the modest delivery fee for an on-line order isn’t such a bad idea.

If $75 is modest, yes. I pay about $3.00 for the supermarket to do my shopping and put the order into my car.

Get a "Lowe's for Pro's" card and the delivery fee is set at $20 per order. Just pay the balance in full because the interest charges rival those of the PayBoo card.

I'll have to prove that I'm a pro. They even have special parking.

That guy that was in front of you at Stewart's was here at Circle K, a convenience store, that had trouble deciding which cigarettes he wanted to kill himself with and then a major life decision on which lottery ticket to lose with and then after all that his kids decided they wanted an ice cream cone and of course had trouble making up their minds, actually watching them and listening to their discussion was hilarious better than any late night show. I just wanted you to know that you are not alone

The worst are the old people. They put everything through the scanner and then decide that they need to pay for it somehow and spend the next 10 minutes finding their wallet, getting it out and then looking for their credit/debit cards Women aren't the best either. I go through having already got my cards out before I have even unloaded the trolley. And the worst thing is they drive the same way.

Based on my last 100 trips through the checkout there was a preponderance of old people. Old is 65 up. In case you think I might have a thing against old people (which I have by the way because they are slower than they need to be) note that I am 75 this year.

They also propel the shopping carts the same way they drive.

Yes! You beat me to it. This happened with a woman in her 30s a few days ago. After all the food was packed away in the cart, she started looking for her CC. You're supposed to put that in the card reader first!

You know what happens then, right? She moves two feet, and stands there putting away her card, the receipt, her wallet, buttoning her coat. All the while, I'm waiting to move ahead and start checking out. When she finally starts heading out, she moves in slow motion, holding up the people behind her. This is why I like having the store do the shopping for me.

You imagine what she will be like when she is 70 !! There needs to be a word much stronger than 'entitled'. People like that need a slap around the ear-hole to make them realize they are not the only person on this planet. Probably an only child.
I don't use the words 'excuse me' any longer in a supermarket, I just push through using the trolley to give them a small nudge.

Some people move, drive and make decisions at a slow pace no matter what their age and IQ is not what drives their methods. I worked with a young brilliant mechanical engineer in an engine design group that always moved slow.
