Went to my first camera club meeting locally a few weeks ago. Things sure have changed since the ol' days of film. Learned a lot at that meeting though much of it was over my head and will likely be that way for some time to come. Nevertheless, I did get snippets of helpful information and I'm certain I'll get even more during the next meeting in December 1. Nice meeting and nice folks.

A good camera club can keep the excitment going. Just being around other photographers that talk the same language (most of the time) is nice.

I'm certain the next meeting will be equally informative. Looking forward to it already.

Most of what I learned at that meeting consisted of learning how my camera operates on different settings. Tried all the tip I got and they worked well. Might have a few suggestions I can offer at the next meeting.

Did they teach you how to hold your camera?

You may also want to look to see if photography meetup groups in your area would be to your liking.

I am finding that I like my meetup photography groups better than my camera club.

Actually, this local group is a combination of camera and photography.

Hi Ron, I was a member of the Toronto Camera Club for about 6 years until I moved to Ottawa. I have learned so much with the Club. I went to the Judging Session nights and learned a lot there even though we were sometimes exasperated by the way the judges were commenting on our photographies. But overall, it was the best thing I did for myself as a photographer. Good luck and have fun !
