Using my wife's bucket of Callalily's on the front porch, I took a photo with my Olympus focusing on the pistol in the flower and the leaves still were blurry. I was wanting to focus deeper into the flower keeping the leaves also in focus. "Photos #1 & #3 were taken on a tripod, #2 was handheld."

First photo and third photos were taken in aperture mode SS-2500, F4, ISO 200, 200mm Equiv. and converted in Luminar Neo.

Second is JPEG, SOOC, was taken handheld Aperture Mode at F16 to increase DoF, thus moving the SS to 160.

Third photos is a stack of 20, with an interval of 2; Aperture Mode, and stacked and processed in Luminar Neo.

All were taken in bright morning sun and are best reviewed in download. ALL BEST VIEWED IN DOWNLOAD

I was surprised how fast Neo stacked the images though, now I realize its only 20 photos.

Comments and recommendations on using this stacking mode and program; indoors, outdoors, should I have used a light box, was this a bad subject to experiment on. Comments on these photos, good and bad are definitely appreciated. Not sure if I even started the focus point correctly. I know the camera will do handheld stacking but not sure I'm steady enough unless I can get a SS of 10,000 I do plan to do more practice, maybe indoors since wind was an issue. Cheers

I like #2. I haven't done any photo stacking yet. Been thinking about it, but it seems very close to that postprocessing rabbit hole that there may be no escaping from!

I've been playing with focus stacking. I certainly done use that many, but I am upping the number of images captured. My problem is knowing which ones to use when I get them on my computer!

I like how the background leaves are out of focus in the 3rd one. I find that calla lilies require a small f-stop to get all of the flower in focus. The second image, I think, is quite good of the flower itself.

Thanks Chief, not sure I see any major difference between #2 and #3...maybe a different subject with a little more distance to focus. I was also trying it to see how well Luminar Neo was at stacking before I look at other programs. For my uses, it seems very adequate...Cheers.

Thanks for looking APL, I was doing the same thing, wondering which photos to use. I have to convert photos to .dng to use in Luminar…I can add as many as 100 photos in Luminar, right now I’m trying 20 at a time, setting camera for 20 then using all of in the stacking process.

It’s fun, I’m going to put a flower in a light box and practice on that l. I can also do hand held photo stacking, that’s my next attempt…😎 Cherrs

I think the edges in #2 are sharper than in #3

Yep, think you are right, especially on the bottom...back to practice.
