Dirty Water

...waves weren't very big today, but the *color* of the water got my attention even from a distance. All I had to do was ask a surfer: Red Tide! I'm working through my culls, I recall seeing even more dramatic coloration...

Cool shot, easier to work small waves on a short board.

...they say "most" red tides are safe to surf and swim in. There were alot of people out there enjoying the beach...I'm sure if it was unsafe the lifeguards would black flag it.

I think this one tells the story a little better. BTW, I was using my 70-200 f2.8 Z lens with the 2x TC hooked to the Z9, kinda happy with the TC's performance but I'll stick with the 100-400 for this type of work as a standard. Sure wish Nikon would kick that 200-600 out!

Super capture. I always associate red tide with Florida beaches. Sad to see it happening in the Pacific as well.

They happen out here, I've just never seen one in person. It wasn't a huge deal for the surfers!

We have had red tide the last two years on the west coast of Florida. Florida warns of health issues caused by the red tide. Breathing issues rank at the top of the list.
