Has any body noticed how the neck ties have INCREASED in length! The ties are now down to the bottom of a pants zipper. Is it suppose to be a new fashion statement, or a handy tinkle wipe? malvin
Well it's better than the "one-eared elephant". lol

I guess neckties will get wider, thinner, longer, shorter, stripped, solid, paisley, etc. etc. as the fashion years progress, but if that is the only fashion problem men have to deal with they should consider themselves (me included) very lucky. During the late 60s/early seventies when women's lib was a big thing, I did a paper, for a college class, about how woman's lib was affecting the fashion industry. My conclusion was that women have ALWAYS had a much wider range in apparel that was acceptable. Back in the 1950's a woman could, and often did, wear pants and a blouse (shirt) to the stores or informal social gatherings, but if a man wore a skirt (even if he was Scottish), well......
Presidents (and their wives) tend to be trend setters. JFK didn't wear a hat, and as a result, mens headwear all but disappeared. Donald Trump is the first (and perhaps the only) man I've seen wearing overly long neckties. He's a tall man (6' 2") so he likely buys big/tall men's ties and then wears them well below his belt buckle. Joe Biden may spark a revived interest in aviator sunglasses, Ray-Bans in particular. This occurs without apparent intention; it just seems to go with the office.

Perhaps he didn't notice what category popped in the list first. It depends what category one is viewing when one decides to post. A lot of people don't.
Should he get two or five demerits for that?
I can't decide if it's chit-chat or attic ...
I wore neckties from the 50's, until I retired in 2007. I was always a fan of Brooks Brothers and Talbot shirts and ties, although I also wore Land's End oxford cloth shirts, also. I still have some Brooks Brothers original oxford cloth "tennis collar" shirts that have worn like iron.
I guess the thing that bothers me the most about neckties and dress shirts, is the ability of the men to ensure the tie goes up beyond the collar button and fit the "vee" of the collar. That's a matter of getting a proper dress shirt fit, and learning how to knot the tie in either a full or half Windsor, or a neat four-in-hand.

I'll take some demerits, you choose, or put me in the attic, I've been there before, my goof on the category...

I have always been a non-fashion statement. Fashion is an unnecessary expense. You can look good without spending a lot of money IMHO.
For that reason I quit wearing ties about 50-60 years ago. I have a tie for when one is necessary (weddings and funerals).
At my age, comfort is more desirable than fashion.
If your tie is too long, find a pair of scissors.

Chit-chat...
It's only attic fodder if someone goes pol-i-ti-cal.

I don’t pay any attention neckties. I don’t own any and haven’t worn one in years. Never liked them. Are they putting cameras in neckties now?
