My wife and I were driving through town today and I spotted a beautiful fully restored 67 Cougar approaching us and stated. “Cougar 67!….she immediately responded “Cougar 53!”

One other time I spotted. A BBQ at a local cannabis store here in Oregon (legal here…darn it!). It said Free Pork Sandwiches here with purchase…my wife popped out with AAaahhhhh….A POT Roast!

Some years ago I had a 1969 Mercury Cougar XR-7, which I dearly loved. It was beautiful, luxurious. and a great performer - eventually stolen, unfortunately. I drove it from Burbank up to Marin when 5 had just opened up - very little traffic, no gas stations and no highway patrol; I averaged just a tick under 100 mph for the greater portion of the trip. I've included pictures from some old photo scans.

Loren - in Beautiful Baguio City

Beautiful! I had a new 69 Mach 1 when I5 first opened and did the same thing ! I was driving at 105mph for a big portion of the way too! No cops and no gas had to plan where to hit 99 to find gas then come back to 5…thanks for the memory!

I made the same trip in my '67 Barracuda Fastback at the same speed and about the same time. I miss that beauty. I paid a shade under $2500.00 for it. If you can even find one today, they're$40,000 and up.

Looks like a nice Sport tourer. Cars weren’t known for their fuel economy in those days - I bet you were sucking up some fuel at that speed!

at $0.29cents per gallon we had no thought or worries about gas economy! Fun days long gone.

Here is an old pic from 1969 of my Mach 1 head turner I bought new back then. Cops would pull me over just to talk about it! Quite a sensation back then.

One of my favorites of my youth, the '69 Cougar Eliminator. I just looked and saw one that just sold for $176,000
