I have a Western Digital back drive that is no longer working as it should and WD has stopped support for this drive. I'm looking for backup software that will monitor my activity and when I generate a new data file (photo, document, spreadsheet, etc.) I want the backup software to automatically generate a backup file with no intervention from me. There has been a lot of chatter on this forum about Sync Back. I looked at it but I was unable to determine the capabilities of this software. Does any of you know if Sync Back will do what I want? If not, can you recommend back up software that will automatically generate a backup without me initiating the action?

It won’t be immediate, but GoodSync can be configured to automatically update on a daily basis to a local drive.

Microsoft One Drive will continuously monitor folders that are designated and backup to the cloud. Same for Dropbox.

I use Syncback Free and one must configure it to do what you want. I have set mine to backup my data twice a day, my downloads once a week. I use an external drive as the backup device. It may not be obvious how to make these settings, but it isn't hard.

As insurance against fire/flood loss, I use Carbonite, a cloud service. You must specifically tell it to backup videos.

I have used EaseUS Todo Backup for many years with no problems. That being said, I have never needed to restore damaged files--just lucky I guess. It is a well-rated backup program, and they have good support.

I have used Backblaze for years. it will automatically backup to whereever and whenever you chose. I do it at 2 am while I am sleeping. Seems to work well.

I appreciate your input. However, I’m looking for a real time backup rather than a backup that is scheduled.

I have used Acronis for almost 20 years. When configured it will backup as soon as any change in data occurs.

Thanks, Mark. I didn’t realize that Acronis would do that. I’ll take a closer look at it. Thanks again.

You can “chat” with them. I think that configuration is termed “continuous”.

Once something is downloaded isn’t it part of your data?

Backblaze allows - indeed, recommends - continuous backup
