Im a user of Lightroom 4 and have been quite impressed but I have been hearing good things about DXO Optics Pro I know I know its the old Ford vs Chrysler vs GM thing ( notice i didnt say Nik vs Can ) Just hoping there are some users thaat can give me comparisons to lightroom or any real use info??
Never used DXO...been way too happy with LR.
DXO recovery of detail in the shadows at its base default settings is better than I can achieve manually in Capture NX2, Canon DPP, Adobe ACR & CS5.
That may reflect more on my manual skills with those programs but it is my findings so far.
I havent had ACR or CS5 very long though, only a couple of months so my skill level is low there.
DXO handling of CA is better than other programs I have seen as well.
I have never seen Lightroom in action.
I used DXO for awhile on a trial, didn't buy it as it was harder to use and slower to render than my Capture NX2 was. I have since moved on to Photoshop CS6 since it was on sale (for almost the same price as DXO).
tried DXO just a couple of days ago, but decided even though there were many more "Features", I can still adjust everything I need with Paint Shop Pro X4. From lighting to contrast, from depth of field, to local tone mapping, fill light and clarity, saturation levels,Histogram adjustments etc. etc., just couldn't justify the transition and cost. Always on the lookout for new or creative software though.
