When I was working in animation (Fil Cartoons/Hanna-Barbera Philippines), everyone has a pencil and the bathroom walls were like a freedom board where all sorts of funny and stories were left for others to read.
Sometimes it looked like the modern text messaging conversation where each new person entering the booth would add into the line like this:
-Hey your ugly.
-Your uglier.
-and you grandma is a boyscout.
-Your moma had to pay to sell you.
-... and so on
By the end of the day it would be cleaned and a new thread would start the next day.

Although the reference to skipping vinyl records can also be applied to the cd's, todays ipod/mp3 kids would say that's a daddy joke they can not understand
