Hi,

I have been enjoying reading the topics and seeing all the wonderful pictures so decided to Introduce myself. Yes, I'm sure my neighbors think I'm weird hanging out windows taking pictures of birds and walking around my yard day after day with camera in hand taking pictures of bugs on the same flower over and over. My 2 year old grandson sometimes yells "NO" whenever he sees me pick up my camera! Im not sure all of this is normal for a newbie LOL but oh we'll just practicing and slowly and I do mean slowly learning. Anyway, an awesome photographer I recently met who gave me a few pointers suggested I join a photography forum and I like this one.

After seeing everyone's beautiful photo's I am a little nervous about posting mine but I need help in knowing what makes a good picture. I hope to learn from all of you. Thanks for reading this.

My neighbors think I am nutzoid too! I wander around the pastures, hedgerows and dirt roads around here at sunrise and sunset hunting for new opportunities to capture something interesting... (We live in the boonies!)

They get used to it after a while... And then come to expect it...

My neighbor actually picked up the phone one day - "Dude, are you gonna get this sunset? It's breathtaking!" Sure enough, it was... The shot ended up in a calendar!

So fear not, those neighbors may help you out one day... LOL

Bill (Mr P)

Thanks to my neighbor...

Wow flatpossum, that's an awesome picture!

Yah my husband sounds like your neighbor. He thought I was nuts and possessed by some kind of camera demon LOL. He now carries my tripod for me and is always trying to find places for us to go so I can take pictures.

Thanks all for the nice welcome. I am enjoying the site and reading the posts, looking at pictures.

Sounds like she loves you AND likes the solitude at times :-). Win-win situation. How are you liking the Nikon D7000? I have a Sony a300 but am looking to upgrade in the near future and the D7000 was one I was looking in to. It's just that I already have lenses and flash for Sony. I am really interested in the Sony a77 but not sure I'll like an electronic viewfinder. I need to decide soon because there is another lens I want!! LOL. Probably should start a new topic with this question. There are so many opinions out there,it makes my head spin. Best keep trying to learn my current camera.

After 34 years together I think we got it right.
D7000 is fantastic, still learning it, got a book right next to me on the D7000 by David Busch, better than the nikon manual. started with a D50, then D90, and to the D7000.

I upgraded to the A77 and it is a fantastic camera. The EVF works great. Now my wife gets my A700 and my daughter gets her KM7D. Win, win & win!
