Marathon ran yesterday as it does annually on the third Monday of April, Patriot's Day, a unique MA holiday. I'm not certain who impresses me more, the runners or the army of volunteers. There were 30k runners. The weather was great for the runners with temps in mid 50s and periods of rain, including a short downpour. It was not quite as ideal for spectators or waiting several hours in a corral for the non-elite groups to go. I live about 100 yards off the course at mile 21 on Commonwealth Ave. Ideal to take only what I need, return home to change lenses, or, as was true yesterday to dry off and warm up. Boston College is just below the crest of Heartbreak Hill.
The sign is here annually. A reminder that it is, in fact, all downhill from here.

The wheelchair racers begin earlier and finish much earlier. Because of the weather which varied between drizzle and downpour, traction and friction of gloves on wheels was a problem.

Evan, on the right, won for the second consecutive year. Interesting fact. Elite runners bibs have their last name except for the winner of the previous year who has his first name.
