The snow finally melted off my observatory and the morning sky started out clear. And it was a busy day on ol' Sol.
First set up was an Astro-Tech 65EDQ scope with a Hershel Wedge solar filter, Solar Continuum filter, 5x PowerMate and QHY 462C(olor) camera, mounted on an iOptron CEM26 mount.
Second set up was a Lunt 60 Solar scope with a 5x PowerMate and QHY 462C(olor) camera, mounted on an iOptron CEM26 mount.
Shot several 1000 frame SER videos of each target area with each configuration using SharpCap. Preprocessed the video clips in AutoStakkert and postprocessed in Lightroom and Photoshop. All the White Light images were stacks of the best 5 frames of video (out of 4000). All the Ha images were stacks of the best 10 frames of video (out of 4000).
Four White Light and four Ha Solar images shown below. The first two images may look the same but one was shot as the first session and one as the last session. I just couldn't decide which was the best?
Enjoy!

Really looks great, Brian!
I've thought about setting up to do some day shootin. But I'm leary of my sun shield and HA7nm filter not being good enough to protect my camera from getting fried.

Yup, my early attempts at Ha solar imaging using a normal 7nm Ha filter and a neutral density filter was a fail, the reason I no longer have a color Pt. Grey Chameleon camera; poof! The ol' sun puts out a lot of energy, particularly when magnified through a scope.

Cool shots . . . well, more likely hot. You're glad I'm not your neighbor, as I'd be over to watch more often than you'd want to put up with a guest.
