We all know that the Rock of Gibraltar is a huge mountain of a rock. What few people know is that it has more caves and tunnels - natural and man-made - than any similar feature on earth. Humans were living inside the Rock 120,000 years ago. The ancient Greeks also occupied it and left sculptures behind. During WW II, the English started digging and wound up with eighteen miles of tunnels, with offices, living quarters, a barber shop, cafeteria, and hospital. It was designed to hold 18,000 men.
When they heard that Germany planned to occupy it, they built secret facilities for six men. If the Germans did take control, these six men would stay behind and act as spies, sending messages back to England. Fortunately, it never came to that.
Lots online - fascinating.

We pulled in in 1987 when I was the Chief of the Boat on the Submarine City of Corpus Christi. Spent almost a whole day going through. And what a great view from the top can See France, Spain, Morocco and the nude beach below😂.
Been to Gibraltar many times...watch out for the friggin' monkeys.
Last time I was there...the caveman scene...someone put a joint in his hand.
