I went to the monthly meeting of our local senior group yesterday, and the "Community Singers" entertained us. I was sitting in the first row, so I had to force myself not to laugh. They were very good, singing a variety of songs, but I was still tempted to laugh. The average age was probably 85, and they were a "motley crew." It reminded me of a scene from a comedy movie. They were very expressive, with both face and body.

The electric keyboard was way too loud, but the man sitting next to me still managed to fall asleep. There were several solos, and I really had to fight to keep from laughing. On the way out, a woman said that my face looked very familiar. I said that I've had it all my life, and I always recognize it in the mirror. I think she was just hitting on me. She almost tripped me with her walker, but I was too fast for her.

These old folks meet every week and sing their hearts out, and they obviously love what they're doing. I wonder how many 85-year-old football players get together for a weekly game.

Music is forever!

This post would be more appropriate for Facebook. Not particularly relevant in a predominantly photography oriented forum. Just saying!

I don't think you're allowed to use "orient" anymore.

Really...?

Have you read the section title?
General Chit-Chat (non-photography talk)

Or do you have a different definition of "General Chit-Chat".

Lol…Great post made me laugh first thing in the morning. Thanks. I am gonna use a couple lines if I can remember them….lol, at 80 minus a couple months, plans come and go as they will…I find being old very entertaining for the most part.

I am braver now than I have ever been in my life! I recently went to my doctor for a hernia exam, they switched doctors on me! This doc was a girl! I think she was about 17 or18 maybe. When she gave the order to stand and drop them I never even blinked. I glanced at my wife who had insisted on going with me for some reason…big mistake, she was silently laughing so hard she was red in the face, I thought she might be having a stroke, no such luck. The doc said cough please…I said my lungs are ok I don’t need to cough…she said she needed to find the problem. I replied with an open mouth see no lung issues, ever try and talk with your mouth wide open? It sounds like YOU just had a stroke.

By now my wife had tears running down her cheeks , the doc noticed and said don’t cry this will be a “minor” issue. This broke the dam and huge guffaws of laughter burst forth out of my wife’s mouth…I told her no fair you caught me with my pants down! I could read her mind and knew I was in for it for many months, heck, probably YEARS to come! I was thinking good thing I don’t have that many years left.

See old age can be fun!

General Chit-Chat is General Tsaos’ competition in the frozen Oriental Food section, I think.

Never buy it. Randomly too spicy at times. No consistency.

Did I say "old"? I was just trying to paint a mental picture. I had no idea what to expect. The Community Singers could have been high school kids.

If you don't like 66, my friend, just think about me, I'll be turning 87 in Nov. You think I like that? LOL.
