I've captured some great photos of houses in my neighborhood during different seasons (some in snow, some bursting with Spring color). I've considered framing some of these to give to my neighbors for Christmas. My husband thinks that could be creepy, as if I've been lurking about... What do you think? We're friendly, but not real close with most of them.

Yes, I think this is creepy, they might even ask why you took their picture. Give them a pic of a local landmark or something like that

Gee Cony25, I think you are way, way off base here... Most people don't have a good picture of their house and I think it would be greatly appreciated...

I know I would like it.....

If I came to your home and seen these hanging on your wall I may have a problem with it. If you showed me a great photo of my house and wanted to share it with me I would be greatfull. Just my opinion.

It might be a little creepy if you don't know them all that well, but they may actually end up liking it. It is a nice gesture and who knows they may recommend you to friends they know that might want a pic of the outside of their house and you could make some money that way.

I like this idea!

My family owns a cabin in the Colorado Rockies, which I see only in Summer. Friends have photographed our cabin in Fall and Winter, views I will never see personally. These photos hang in our cabin.

Cabin in Summer

Cabin in Fall

Cabin in Winter

Well, I wouldn't like it. If it were a picture of a whole block during the seasons, that would be different.

Thanks for your replies, everyone. Nearly half of you agree with my hubby on this one... I guess I should reserve this gift for only the neighbors I know well.
Jerry C- great idea. I will take some long views of the entire block on our next snow day! Will come back to post some of these later. Have a great day!

when you say you are friendly, what do you mean? Do you know their names? Or just to wave at each other when you see each other on the front drive?

I would find it strange if my neighbour who I have a "wave as we pass" relationship with gave me a photos of my home.

I also think Nikonian72 is discribing a different level of friendship the one you have with your neighbours that I have pictured from your post.

We live in a very friendly neighborhood- we share tools and have cook-outs with eachother, watch eachother's kids, etc. I do have a few elderly neighbors who are very private with whom we only have a "wave as we pass" relationship. I originally thought it would be a personal, thoughful gift for those WAWP neighbors, but after reviewing & considering your opinions, I certainly see a different point of view. And so I'll stick with the hubby's suggestion to share something less personal with them for the holidays.

I'm sure thqat if you told your neighbors you're into photography and would like to take pictures of their house during different seasons, they wouldn't object. Of course, legally, you'd be on public property doing the shooting, so asking would just be a courtesy.
