I always shoot with 2 devices - Sony 6500 w/Hasselblad 18-210 lens and the iPhone 14 Pro Max (my just in case camera). I am beginning to see a trend where 1/3 of the photos from a shoot I decide to edit were taken with the phone. However, I feel like a juggler at times putting the phone in my pocket to shoot with the Sony or sticking the Sony under my arm to take a second shot with they of you phone.

My options are (just being funny here to get to my main point #4)
1. use a shoulder strap on the Sony so it's at the ready and won't drop
2. use only the Sony
3. use only the phone -or-
4. continue to use a combo (strap and a phone 'rig' like the Pro Grip)

Whew ... so I am interested if any UHH folks have used the ProGrip and can you share your thoughts

I have not heard of the ProGrip, but it looks like and interesting accessory. It’s not cheap, but if you are going out to shoot exclusively with your phone camera, it looks to be very handy, making shooting easier.

Your link is to a $150 gadget. I googled for "smartphone grip" and found one at B&H for $16!

I've used a DJI OM4 gimbaled grip and liked it a lot. The newer DJI OM6 is $160 at B&H.

No, I haven't used the ProGrip.
It just seems to me that if I were going add all of these appendages ($149.99 - $517.99) to make a phone look like a DSLR I may as well go ahead tote take my DSLR.
Please don't take offense, I just don't get why I would like to add all of these items to my iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Maybe some gets it . . . .
Best Wishes,

I can't see how a Phone grip is going to help you. Don't you still have to carry the phone in your hand? Why not use a laynard for your phone so that you can hang the phone around your neck when not in use? Personally, when I am out walking around with the specific intent of using my IPhone I will use a Peak Design Lease strap. The strap is light and functional. I sometimes carry my bigger camera with a Black Rapid strap along with the Lease strap. I'm leaving the bigger camera at home more and more.

Problem with these grips is if you upgrade phone every year or two you will need to replace the grip also, another $150. I use this basic phone grip by Shoulder Pod after trying a few like yours, unfortunately it looks like it has been discontinued but there are others out there

I just ordered this to try out. I thought I might be able to get out for a walk around our favorite lake, but then it snowed a bunch so now I’ll have to wait to try it out when it gets here. Should be here Saturday. I have a wrist strap I can use on it, although i don’t have a neck strap. I may need to get one of those, too. This will fit pretty much any smartphone, any year, and you can leave your camera case on, too.

Looking forward for a review of that!

That’s one that probably won’t take long to evaluate. It’s pretty simple, so it’ll either be easy to use or a piece of junk, in which case it’ll get returned. I like that it has a built in light for diffused lighting on a subject. I’ll let you know.

I think the advantage of the grip is that it is more ergonomic and more importantly, it should have a Bluetooth shutter release so you can fire the camera from the grip.

The phone grip got here today, but I’m not sure it’s going to work out. A year ago I had the end joint of my right index finger fused due to deterioring from arthritis and now it doesn’t bend. As a result I have a lot of difficulty reaching the shutter release button. I’ll try it out tomorrow and see how it works.
