not happy about this time table... will be making some moves SOON to newer Canon or out of Canon totally.

Thanks for the information!

Nikon has no similar list, but the opinions I've read on the internet agree that they will repair a product until they run out of parts. A camera or lens owner would probably have to call them to see if their equipment can be repaired. No manufacturer is going to repair their older products forever.

Nikon MAY not have a list published, but they don't support their products long either... D800e is no longer supported and PARTS rare and NOT available from Nikon... so not sure what you are talking about, if anything

I am good with these dates. Based on these dates, my camera support may very well live beyond me.

It is a fact of life that as new technologies evolve old technologies fall in the past. All camera companies and lens manufacturers are there to make money. Lenses seem to last forever but when they are old they have the same fate as cameras do. It happened to me with the 18-70 f3.5-4.5 AF, DX lens. Its AF stopped operating and Nikon told me when I reached for help that they no longer repair the lens. Ever since I have been using it in manual focus.

My cameras are old but they give me the service I need from them. I bet that if I ever need them repaired in the future Nikon will not repair them because they are old. I will make a decision at the time if I am still around. Life is not at its end because a lens or a camera cannot be repaired, just move on.
I agree that Nikon has no list of cameras and lenses with a time limit for repairs. Better ask before you send a camera or lens to them.

No support for the Rebel series? I love my canon Rebel T8i…had the shutter replaced in 2022. I was thinking of buying another for backup. Familiarity is a big plus for this old man.

IF they allow YOU to send the camera or lens back, you get an estimate and shipping label... IF you call and they tell you to forget it, then YOU are left to find any camera shop which may or may not have some surplus parts to fix...that's about how it is now.

A new concern now... for me, I want to step up to a newer lens or body, but the TIME TO GET the lens is about ONE year or more! I am specifically speaking of the Nikon 800mm f6.3 lens! So IF I sell my Canon 500 mm f4 L, it may be over a year before I can replace it... I can not JUSTIFY this as I am a serious OLDER amateur, not a working pro...

I thought I had bought a house when I bought the OLD Canon 500mm f4L for about $3.2K! now I find myself contemplating $6.5K!!! Nuts..HOW DID WE GET HERE??? In fairness to Canon, the Canon lens has been and still is the BEST EVER, and imo, without a great PRIME you will NEVER get the results YOU seek, or should be seeking... I was continually dissatisfied with details until I purchased a pro lens, then IF the image was NOT great, it was pilot error for sure..

The Nikon D800 and D800e had a short run from 2012 to 2014 and have been discontinued for 9 years. It should come as no surprise that support has ended. I'm sure that support varies by product, by how many units were sold and by how long since manufacture ceased. If they still have parts, they'll fix it. If they don't, they won't. It isn't rocket science.

Try Ebay...

Just bought a Used Canon Powershot 150 Camera from them yesterday, will come by the end of the week & will try to find a Canon SX50 to Replace the One that I got in February 2014.

...& you can find a lot of Bargains on Ebay with Used Cameras (Digital or Film) & sell your Broken ones for Parts also.
