A friend wrote me and asked
Do you know if there's a standard resolution number that magazines look for when publishing pix?

I said
No ,but full res can always be resized smaller

She then said
The Magazine editor said standard is 300 dpi at actual size. Where do I find that info?

I don't know the answer

Any help out there ?

Most publishing wants files that can be printed at finished size in 300dpi. To find out how big the file needs to be, determine the final print size, then multiply that dimension (in inches) times 300. This will be the MINIMUM acceptable size.

For example, to print 8x10 image at 300dpi, you need a file that is at least 2400 x 3000 pixels.

If you contact the magazine art dept. they will send you requirements for photos.
