I suddenly remembered....

...that my new lens was an autofocus lens. (Nikkor ED AF 300/2.8) For some odd reason I had it in my mind that it was a manual lens. I reckon I’ll chalk this up to old age. I decided to order a D810 after coming across one with just a little over 6500 shots on it. I’m looking forward to learning how to utilize its many features.

Anyhow, I saw these three duck flying towards me just after setting it to autofocus. Would any of you know what variety of duck this is?

They are Common Mergansers and beautifully captured too

I think the black heads are male & the redish brown heads are females. Great photo & enjoy your new gear.
