I had been using Chromecast for TV for several months, but it didn't offer AcornTV. If I wanted to add anything to Chromecast, I had to enter a four digit code from a computer, modem, or router. Whatt??? Roku offers many more streaming options, and the remote control is much better.
On the bright side, when Roku starts acting up, I can switch to Amazon Fire or Chromecast.
When people ask me for help with a TV at Sam's Club where I work part-time, I recommend they purchase a ROKU unit even if the TV is a "Smart" TV. Some TVs come with ROKU as part of the package but those that do not have a very poor selection of streaming options.
