Problems with Adorama lately?

I bought a Nikon MB-N11 Battery Grip used, from Adorama. Within the allotted timeframe, I noted that the textured gripping area was completely becoming unglued and it was no longer electronically connecting with the camera itself, upon occasions. I wrote and they said to send it to their "claims" depot in Tennessee, and they specifically said it a decision on how to remedy the situation with be made within 5 to 7 days of receipt. It has now been more than 5 WEEKS, with no resolution. I keep getting messages, thanking me for my patience and saying they are attending to the problem, as soon as possible. I have run out of patience. I wrote back to one such email from them and they responded that they have had an inordinate amount of items returned and were simply bogged down.

My purchases are usually either through my local camera shop or B&H. But I have used Adorama every so often over the years with no problems, until now. On the other hand, this is insane!

Anyone else have a problem with them, recently?

Thank you.

Writing is not the same as calling and talking to a live person. That way you get the name of everyone you speak to, and as long as you are polite will typically get results. Of course you can ask for a refund since you said it was in the time frame.

Just ask for a refund. It is not cost effective for them to repair used equipment.

I wrote and spoke to them - both. They were very nice and to date, and so have I. And my next step is to ask for a refund. My question is whether this is something going on with Adorama, or is it an infrequent scenario? Are they a Company I should avoid, in the future?

Thank you.

Look, they told you, "they have had an inordinate amount of items returned and were simply bogged down"
What about this response do you not understand.

And if you have a store you can walk in talk to a person and show him/her the parts that would be much better. I sure miss the day we can just do that.

I am surprised to learn this. Years ago, I purchased a battery grip for my Canon 5D Mark II. After about six months of use including inserting and removing it from the camera body a small crack appeared on the neck of the grip. I called and spoke with a person. I was told to send it to them. Within a day, a new one was shipped. I have never experienced any issues with ADORAMA.
Since your situation does seem extreme, may I suggest a well worded letter detailing dates, times, persons spoken to and what was discussed. Usually an itemized letter with a suitable solution you expect gets the message across. Make sure you request a reasonable time frame for that resolution. Mailing the letter as a return/receipt should produce a result. Should you not receive an answer or the solution, that letter can be brought to Small Claims Court. You will get an appropriate solution.

I still am surprised you have not had a solution.

Two things I do with other companies and both work great. Call them, get the name of the person you talk to. See what he says, then call him back daily for the next few days. He will get it done ...

or ( example item) tell them you are still having problems with your Z9 and you want a full $6000.00 refund they will get a hold of you pronto telling you YOU made an error.
I had a company that owed me money and kept giving me the run around or not answering my calls.
I sent them a corrected bill and added a few thousand dollars on it.
Boy they got ahold of me real quick.

Seems to me ,he is asking if anyone else is having a problem, not how to resolve his problem. Typical response from Hoggers. Jump on a person who is trying to get some info.

Why do you need the internet to make this decision? If you are fine with 5 weeks plus waiting, then they are a perfect fit for you. If not, get your refund and move on. It’s that simple.

Happy Easter!

I am thinking that the underlying issue may be a lack of USED stock to replace what you bought. Typically if you buy used it is replaced with used of equal or better quality but still used. Another option may be to check and see if they have another of the same used item and then talk to them on the phone and offer up the solution of trading out. Its always a gamble with used stuff. But most of the time the used items check out OK.

Best of success in this. I know it is disappointing.
