This picture is not at all normal for me, very different from my usual shots. But I was driving down a Utah highway and killing time until Arches National Park opened and I happened to look at the side of the mountains and decided to take this shot - no real reason why, I just did it to be different. Thoughts? Does anyone find this interesting?

Like it. It’s different sometimes we don’t see the parts that make the whole.

I have taken many similar images. The geology of the west and southwest is amazing. Actually, it is hard to comprehend at times. A float trip on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon had me spellbound over the Canyon geology for 226 miles.

I like your image.

Aesthetically; no. But for geologists, perhaps.

A geologist could make an hour video about that picture. I find geology fascinating.

JF I took the same trip down the Grand Canyon in 1987 and it was fabulous. Nine days on a large raft just cruising down what has to be one of the most interesting places in the nation. The geology was fascinating.

Chuck, I saw several in that area when I was there, but that's way beyond my talents .

It's a nice photo for patterns and texture.

Thanks Dodie, I'm glad you find it interesting. Obviously it's not a pic for everyone, but everyone has different tastes and I'm this photo appeals to some.

interesting topic. You can see several layers of different strata, most of which are broken. Probably at one time silt in a river bed???

I wonder what was going on with Maw Earth when this layer was being formed so many million years ago
