My wife's farm in IL has several grain bins but none are painted, all are "metal" colored. They are used to store grain until prices go up. Grain price is often low right after harvest. These allow for storage 'till prices go up. Her farm is 1500 acres; her relatives farm it for her on shares. We live in MI, often visit in the summer. It's a corn/bean farm, maybe a field or two of wheat. She has a great accountant that oversees things for her.
