Is it real, or is it April Fools.

There was a topic posted and taken down shortly after. It was an announcement for a medium format Nikon digital camera.

I saw it on Nikon Rumors.

I’ve seen rumors of a full frame Z fc, but that’s the first I’ve heard of a medium format.

It's April fool alright but one should pick a model name/number that is more likely otherwise it's too obvious.

I've seen so much talk about a Z8 that you'd think it was a real camera. I don't want to hear about what might exist someday. Only Nikon knows.

Yes. But the gap remains in the camera lineup. All we want is a camera with the same user interface and functionality as the D850 and D500 at an attainable price. The Z7 does not deliver the interface or functionality, the Z9 does not meet the pricing. Such a camera has been available for 20 years (10 years in full frame), but with the formal discontinuance of the D500 and the practical discontinuance of the D850, no such camera is currently available.

Yep that's what happened. Photo-blog-sphere opinions are the the article was accidentally leaked. (Personally I don't believe it was an accident.)

Pentex and Phase1 already offer camera with larger sensors. Canikon have introduced larger lens mounts which will facilitate larger lenses and sensors. IMHO they will be releasing cameras with larger sensors than 35mm film size.

I don't like to say medium format because it's not medium format by the traditional definition, but it is a larger sensor than 35mm Film.

Definition of Medium Format:
"Medium format is any camera format that makes use of the 120 film size or utilizes a digital imaging sensor that mimics that size."

Please clarify what you mean by "the practical discontinuance of the D850".

They are available if you can find them in stock, but dealers that don't have any seem to be having lots of trouble getting them.

You are correct about that. Don't have energy for what someone thinks he heard someone say about something that someone else may have read somewhere at some time or another.
