A good find and nicely shot. I didn't expect them to have a flat body but perhaps they hide under stones with only their weaponry outside and ready to pounce on poor little critters.

Excellent photos. I always enjoy when we're able to capture nature doing what nature does. pseudo-scorpion eating lunch is awesome. What happened to your MPE65? I hope it's not now an expensive paper weight.

For a small beast, it has Arnold Schwarzenegger arms. Discard the first photo... In the second this beast is 1970 big bug horrifying!!! When downloaded hit the + to enlarge, obviously this beast is suitable to be the pet of the Predator of the Predator movies, the thing of nightmares.

It has been decades since Flea Circuses faded from popularity... love films have been replaced by horror films... this beast and it family would be the flea replacement... a SciFi movie in micro.

error- the lens is not communicating with the body. this happened before and it cost about $300 for canon to fix it plus a 2 or 3 week wait.

Bummer. That lens is on my list of future purchases. I just want to get a little more experience with 1:1 macro before trying that.

Good one! The 'ol mpe65 is discontinued, and moving on, I fear. A good replacement is the Venus/Laowa 2.5-5x, which I have (and it practically lives on my camera now), and the Mitagon Zongyi “Creator” 85mm 1x-5x. That one had serious issues early on, but supposedly they are fixed now. Both are fully manual.

Great shot and depth of field.

I come across these once in a great while in my compost pile.
They are vert easy to miss because they are about 1/8" total in length.

i have been thinking about the Venus/Laowa 2.5-5x what is the distance from the lens to the subject at 3x1
