Kinda like flying

Went to the Venice Rookery today. Plenty of action and lots of young. There were a couple of older juvenile Great Blue Herons on a prominent nest. Lots of wing action but they weren't yet flight capable. I couldn't resist putting a caption on this one.

Your caption caused a coffee stain on my wall. Thanks for the laugh! We have a rookery near me and I always get a laugh when I watch the little ones learning to fly. Some of them get the flying part down fairly quickly, but it's the landing part that seems to confound some of them.

Yep! And always Gators hanging around underneath the nests hoping that jump ends up in the water!!

Yep, that happens. But, the gators keep the raccoons from swimming out and eating the eggs. They can't seem to keep the invasive boas from getting out there though. A lot of hammocks down in the 'glades now produce more snakes than birds.
