A good down the garden path series... BUT...The last photo is a creature with a sly grin who wants the photographer to think it is a bird.... It sure is not a butterfly!!
Another fine set Chief! Good catch with the Meadowlark!

Great set, Chief. I am still trying to get a photo of a Meadowlark.
Thanks, Ken! I have plenty of Western Meadowlark shots, but these are the first of the Eastern variety. Beautiful bird! I wish I could have gotten closer!

Great set Chief, the butterflies are a winner. Can't be in Florida with out a gator or two these days
Thanks, Jack! Yep, I liked the Butterflys. And what's not to like about a beautiful Gator or three?!!

Thank you! Yep, the last critter speaks for himself, always! What can I say? I really like the cuddly beasts...at a reasonable distance!

Thank you, Cloudhopper! The meadowlark photos were heavily cropped, even for the D850. But sometimes, you take what you can get!
Great photographs. I like them all. Is the butterfly a skipper?

Thanks, Dennis! I'm not sure. I have a lot of money invested in bird books! I'm not going there with insects too!!
Excellent series...being a bird fan the meadowlarks would be my pick!!

Thanks. I have no book investments in either nor will I have. I just don't have time to look up everything.

Thanks, Jim. Yep, mine too! I just wish I could have gotten closer to them! Really difficult to get a sharp focus on them through the grass stems, even with single point focus! I think they are even more beautiful than the Western Meadowlark.

Well, I like to know what I'm taking photos of, not just the names but the habitats and the ranges. But I have more than just Bird ID guides.
I have a "Parrots of the World" book that costs more than $100 and four Bird Guide Books that cost around $25+ each. A "Quails and Pheasants" of the world book that was about $75. "Finches and other Birds for Aviaries" about $100. "Incubation Techniques for Poultry and Game Birds" about $65 and a supplement to that called "Incubation of Parrot Eggs" about $40 and on and on!
Let it be said that I'm a Bird Nut, with no apologies! I just recently bought a Top-of-The-Line egg incubator which I will put to good use once we get out of the RV and into a house somewhere/some when.
Will you be in the market for a hand-raised/fed parrot in a couple of years? If so, keep me in mind?! My brother has a couple of my hand raised parrots at his home in New Jersey. He's had them for over 20 years now. Still happy and healthy and talking up a storm!
