We took that same trip a number of years ago, except we started in Barcelona. We added days on both the front and back of the trip

I took my d7200 and my 18-300 Nikkor lens with my 18-140 as a backup. Also had my 50mm 1.8 prime with me that I never used. I got a lot of good pictures with the one long zoom lens. My iPhone worked indoors where my d7200 wasn’t sufficient.

I now travel with my d500 and Tamron 18-400 lens. It’s my favorite lens ever.

Have a good trip and post a few pictures

Chuck

My 2 lens for a trip like this would be my Nikon 24-120 f/4 and my 70-200 F2.8, but an f/4 would work great

Travel lite to stay focused on enjoying the cruise with your wife and less time thinking about your gear. It may be difficult but she will probably appreciate it. I use to take a lot of gear on vacations until my wife asked me to only bring one lens and I started to enjouy the time more.

Your Z6 lenses tell me that you like to make use of a field of view wider than the Z50 kit lens can offer. I think you'll find that taking just the Z50 will be frustrating, especially for interior and architectural shots.

On the other hand, I strongly suggest that you take both bodies so you have a backup in the case of an equipment malfunction (unless, of course, you plan to repeat this trip so you can get the shots you missed). I take 2 bodies on such trips, and leave one in our room on the ship - I have only the weight and bulk of one camera off the ship, and the most I am risking is some fraction of one day's shooting. If you think your phone could suffice as your backup camera, you're a better phone shooter than I am (that's probably not difficult to achieve).

My suggestion is to take both bodies and the 14-30 and 24-70 lenses.

My wife and I are taking an ocean cruise in June, commencing in Venice and concluding in Barcelona. I am definitely bringing some camera gear but am unsure what to bring. I own both a Nikon Z50 (with kit lenses) and the Z6 (own 20mm and 50mm z primes, 14-30 f4 and 24-70 kit lens). I am inclined to bring the Z50 with the kit lenses (due to its smaller size) but have concerns about my ability to shoot in low light due to the smaller apertures and the smaller sensor. We will be participating in on-shore excursions most days which will likely expose me to landscape, street and architectural photography. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have. Thanks.

My wife and I took a similar Mediterranean cruise, from Venice to Athens to Croatia and back to Venice. This was before I switched from Pentax to Nikon and I had with me Pentax K-1, a full-frame 36Mp body and two lenses, a FF 28-105mm f3.5-5.6 and DX 15mm f4. I brought back thousands of photos. 99% of them were taken with 28-105 lens. Now I have Z7, Z6 and Z50. So, based on my experience, I suggest that you take with you Z50 with 16-50 and 50-250 if you have both. If you don't have 50-250 lens, which is a very good lens, then take Z6 and Z 24-70 f4 and Z 20mm for the night time and interior shots. The Z6 set would be heavier than Z50 set but 24-70 f4 is faster and a bit better than 16-50. I have all the lenses I just mentioned and they are all great. Few years ago, when I just switched to Z gear, I went on 28 days cruise from LA to Hawaii and then to Tahiti. All I had with me was Z6 and Z 24-70 f4. This combo worked very well for me. Now, there is another option, with just one lens - Z6 and Z 24-200. This will be all you would need. Z 24-200 is my most used travel lens.

I’d invest in a 50 mm or 35mm equivalent for low light abilities and field of view

If it were me going all the way to Italy and Spain I would take the Z50 and plop down the extra $637.00, BH price and get the 18-140 lens. At 27-210mm, 35mm equivalent it should cover all your needs since you will not be seeking wildlife.
