Going west along the Canyon Rim from the Visitor Center require taking a Park shuttle bus. The bus operates during daylight hours and they run every 10-15 minutes and stop at all the Vista Points. This allows you to visit the various points at you leisure. Normal round trip is 2-4 hours and the furthest stop is at Hermit's Rest. There is a small gift store and small deli, restrooms etc. at this stop.

Many thanks for stopping by and bringing this to my attention, chefdz...I did not know that was the name for this rock (feature). I've purchased several topo maps of GCNP and to be honest, none of them do a good job of indicating prominent landmarks, other than a few temples and mountains. The best reference source I have is Tim Hull's book "Best Of Grand Canyon" and he does mention the long red Alligator Mesa, pg. 60, that prominently seen from Mojave Point. Didn't notice that when using the book while in the park...oh well!!
