These are model houses made from individual sheets of hand-made colored glass, part of a glass art exhibit at Ringling College, Sarasota, FL.

What will they think of next?

Very interesting concept, but I'm surprised they all take the traditional shape of a house. With all the creativity (it's from an Art school, right?), why do they all have a pitched roof and rectangular sides? Just my thought.

It’s not something someone just “thinks of”! The arts are not always like that.

These are example of the house models only; the exhibit included many other types of shapes and items (vases, plates, heads, animals, plants, etc).

I'm sure there was a lot of other shapes and Items, my point was; Art students were asked to make model houses, I would have thought the traditional gable roof and rectangular shape would be a starting point not the final rendition. As an art student myself and a retired art teacher I would expect to push the boundaries of the concept. After all, isn't being an "artist" about pushing boundaries, being creative, and constantly asking why is it that way?

The short glass houses were made by professional artists, not students. Their work includes many other forms, shapes and media. Their exhibits are few and rare. They are among the best in their genre.

Having three pro model makers in the family I can appreciate the effort required to make these, can’t imagine glass is the easiest material to work with. Nice shots.

Thanks for commenting, and for understanding the concept behind the photos.
