I am buying a new computer, going from a lap top to desk top . I use Topax so OpenGL is important. Best Buy cant tell me . The unit I’m looking at is a Dell XPS with Nvidia GeForce 3060 and a 12 gen intell core i7 - 1227 processor. Would anyone know from this info.if this would run Topaz software
Thanks Bob
Hey Bob, why not go to the Dell Website and ask them?? That would give you a sure answer.

My old Dell runs everything. Suspect Topaz would, too. But ask Topaz support.

The answer should be available under the "system requirements" section for the Topaz software.
I did. I told them I needed a OpenGL 3.3 or higher . All he could tell me that he believed the graphics card he quoted would be ok.

Look up the graphic card and review the specs?

I am using a Dell XPS 17" with 32 mb of ram and with the same specs that you are considering. It handles all Topaz programs without any issues so in answer to your question yes the computer that you are considering will work well for your needs.

Best buy salesman are not known for their expertise about the products they sell. That is a modern and highly spec'd computer. I would be shocked if it did not support everything you would need to run Topaz, and run it well. I assume it's running Windows 11.
Thank you all for your expertise.

From Best Buy website:
"Some items we sell (see below for the detailed list) have a restocking fee if returned by a customer."
Buyer beware!

I also have Dell XPS 17" with 32 gb of ram and it handles all my photo programs including the Topaz ones, no problem.
Cheers

It seems it would be advisable to switch vendors. B&H leaps to mind .... Beats me why youre dealing with a home appliance retailer for your photo needs.
Some peeps complain that B&H is all fast talking smart asses. Well, they are very busy, New Yorkers do generally talk fast, but fortunately their asses really happen to be rather smart.
FWIW, I have both a BestBuy Visa card and a B&H Payboo card.

Yes, it is mire than adequate for that.
Add 24GB DDR5 RAM, and 2 or 3 TB of SSD for good measure.
