A little late for Pi day

This is a screenshot taken with my phone. Apparently the two old guys who hang out in the bar in England, who take all the credit for the crop circles there are also expert mathematicians. They take credit for producing the above using string and boards.

What this represents, in summary, is a geometric representation of the numbers of Pi, such that the lengths of the lines from notch to notch are proportionate numbers of the digits following the decimal point. (I did not quite get how the decimal is represented, you have to ask one of the bar guys)
On top of that, it is perfect when viewed from above, despite the small variations in elevation, which the guys had to make adjustment in the string length to get perfect.

Another interesting fact is that the grain here has several lobes on its shaft, and in order to get the various shadings, some of the lobes are bent at different heights. One shade has, for instance all the shafts bent on one of the upper lobes, while a different shading will be bent on a lower lobe. Again, you have to ask the bar guys how they accomplished such precise shading.

On top of that, the farmers who have had previous crop circle "damage" done to their fields, report higher and healthier than normal yields in subsequent years. Yeah, those bar guys are geniuses for sure.

I forgot to mention that these guys do these things in one night.

Interestingly enough, when this phenomenon was first being studied, it was found that the cellular structure of the bent shafts was still actually intact and functioning; as opposed to being crushed and broken with weight - board, foot, alien spaceship......

These are fascinating structures. Scientists are still attempting to decipher them. Maybe they could take the simple route and just go ask the bartenders..........
