Because sometimes things are more interesting that way.
This was worth a look, but when you are sorting through your images, deciding on keepers or tossers, would this be one you'd send on in to your posterity?

Thanks for looking. I’m glad it was worth your time.
You ask an interesting question. My kids are going to keep few if any of my bird photos, or my flower photos, or my sunset photos. They’re not likely to keep my travel photos other than the trips they shared.
That’s certainly true of my wife, who often expresses that the photos she cares about are memories. If she outlives me, it’s unlikely that many of my more artistic or speculative photos will get to the next generation, other than the ones my kids have already asked for.
My kids are attracted to different things than I. If a few of my photos make it to the next generation, I’ll count that as success. Actually, I think it’s more likely that they’d keep this than most of my pictures, because it is of someone they care about and the photo says a lot about my weird sense of humor and aesthetics.
In short, yeah, maybe, if it’s one they like.

Thanks. I think you're right about this image having a chance of "moving ahead". You sound like you'd be an interesting fellow to know. While I understand your wife's thinking about the importance of memories, her memories will not help yours' and hers' descendents see what you guys (and no doubt many other of the clan) look like. You might tell her that a photograph can be an index to memory. I have looked at old travel pictures and have come across images of things I had completely forgotten about and am able to enjoy them once again. Thanks again.
I think that it is interesting and a keeper
